FAQ
-
do you sell nucs?
Yes, each year we sell Nucs in March/April depending on hive strength coming out of winter. We typically have a high demand for Nucs and start taking RSVPs around November. To reserve a Nuc, we do require a deposit, otherwise it’s first come first serve if we have any extras in spring.
-
what equipment customizations do you accommodate?
Generally we can accommodate any customizations our customers request — From material(s) used, to preferred dimensions, we build equipment to order which allows us to more easily pivot from a standard build. Depending on preferred customizations, the price may go up or down. Our customer service experience is extremely personalized to ensure customers receive exactly what they need.
-
what material are your pallets made of?
Our standard pallets are made with treated 0.75” plywood and include W clips. As with all of our equipment, we are happy to offer material customizations that may either reduce or increase the price. Just reach out to discuss!
-
what materials are used in our equipment?
We love to offer a wide variety of materials to our customers. Most commonly we use: white pine, yellow pine, ponderosa, new HDO, used HDO, plywood, new MDO, and used MDO.
-
are discounts available for bulk orders?
yes, we do offer discounts on orders made in bulk, for both equipment and product sales. Bulk discounts generally start at 100 units and as the order grows, the discount continues to grow as well. Please reach out to learn more about pricing related to your bulk order!
-
do you sell frames?
Yes! We are working with Acorn Beekeeping as a distributor to get our customers the best deals on the most high quality frames. Acorn frames are in high demand among our fellow commercial beekeepers, so we are excited to offer this added value! Ask us about wood frames, plastic frames, foundations, and wax options.
-
do you offer cost saving options?
We are proud to offer paint and patch boxes for our customers in need of a more affordable hive option. Our paint and patch boxes may have some knots and cracks, but are always functional. We make sure they have all the fingers in the finger joints (although there may be slight gapping), and we never fill fingers with caulk. This is a great option for someone on a budget!
-
what should a new beekeeper consider before getting started?
The equipment amount and type that a newer beekeeper will need varies depending on apiary goals. Consider how quickly you want to grow + how much money you are able to put into the growth, and what purpose you want your apiary to serve (honey production, Nuc sales, etc.).
Also consider:
- What you feed bees with
- Treatment options that make sense
- What types of frames you will needReach to discuss in greater detail!
-
